'Celebrating Youthful Curiosity, Discovery and Learning Through Books and Reading.'

The annual contest was first held in 2006 as a way to open up awards in children's publishing to all types of publishers and genres. With a large number of nuanced categories available for entry, the contest aims to highlight children's books that may fall between the cracks in larger, more general competitions. The breadth and diversity of applicants means that medalists come from small presses, university presses and self-publishers as well as from long-established publishing houses.

Based in Traverse City, Michigan, the award is open to authors, illustrators and publishers worldwide who publish English or Spanish language books appropriate for the North American market. Judges vary from year to year and include booksellers, librarians, children, educators and bloggers.

'Creating books that inspire our children to read, to learn, and to dream is an extremely important task, and these awards were conceived to reward those efforts.'

It's a huge honour to be included as a winner amongst the wealth of outstanding books submitted to this prestigious award. The quality and creativity shown in the medal-winning books, across the categories, is exceptional. Thank you to all involved at the Moonbeam Children's Book Awards, including Amy and the team, for such a brilliant competition, run with integrity and inclusivity. We hope you continue to shine moonbeams on deserving children's books for many more years to come!
