Lindsey Millar

Lindsey has a degree in microbiology and gained a doctorate in fungal genetics from the University of St Andrews. As a research scientist she travelled widely and worked in several places, including the James Hutton Institute and the Auckland Cancer Society Research Centre, studying an eclectic variety of microorganisms from plant parasitic nematodes to human papillomavirus.

Since moving away from the bench, her focus is now as a writer and scientific editor. Living on the east coast of Scotland, she has three children and is passionate about sharing her love of science with the next generation. She is also keen to promote Scotland's unique culture, particularly that of its remote islands, and this is reflected in her stories and artwork.

Vivien Sárkány

Vivien is an animation graduate from Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design in the Hungarian capital, Budapest. After completing her degree she moved to Java, on a scholarship to study culture at the Indonesian Institute of the Arts, Surakarta, then settled in Bali where she was able to further explore her passion for visual arts and experiment with different techniques.

She became drawn to illustration as a new way to fulfil her interest in storytelling and to create new worlds, places and characters, and watch them come alive. Taking inspiration from all living things, she tries to capture the beautiful little moments of life in her art.
